I’ve been wondering: Why are “vegetarians vegeterian”? I mean, how come they don’t eat meat and all?
Or is for dieting? Are you not able to digest anything else besides vegetables?
Btw, I’m thinking of becoming a vegeterian….but I wanna know the advantages and the disadvantages of becoming one.

Vegetarians become vegetarians because they do not like the fact that people and factories are killing animals for food. but the bad thing about a vegetarian diet is that you do not get protein in your food, and protein is an essential in your diet. so most vegetarians get sick if they stay vegetarian too long.

I am vegetarian, but eat dairy products. I have disliked eating flesh since I was a child. I have avoided meat since 1970.
Some people get offended that I have chosen my diet, though I don’t push my eating habits on others.
You need to learn about nutrition, portion size, especially protein, fats and fiber, no matter what you eat of you’ll have health problems.

Vegetarians are vegetarians becuase that thay **** meat, or thay dont like the tast of it. If u wanna be a vegearian u wont get any iron. U need iron in your system to live. People who just eat veg. get sick all the time. U will die if u dont eat meat! Trust me.

First of all, don’t believe people who say you’ll just get sick if you’re a vegetarian. I’ve been one for 10 years without any health problems-ever. I probably get sick less than any of my non-veg family members or friends.
As for why, I just always thought it was strange to eat animals. I was about 10-11 when I realized I didn’t want to anymore. I could eat it if i wanted to, i just choose not to.

I need to get back on that wagon! I feel like crao since I’ve fell off after two years! I went vegan for a month, and I felt like gold I’ll tell ya.

You do not get sick from being vetetarians, if fact vegetarians are healthier than people who eat meat. They are often more health conscience about the vitamins/ minerals that go into thier body. Most people are misinformed about how much protine they actually need daily. The average person takes in too much protien, which leads to health problems. Do not listen to those people who will tell you misinformation about vegetarianism. Most of these people do not have credible sources of information, it’s just what they heard.
I myself am vegetarian for ethical reasons, I don’t believe in killing animals(which is unessessary) for food. Animals should not have to suffer when thier is a much healthier alternative.
Advantages:
-You feel good about your decision
-You are 24% less likely too suffer from heart disease, and 57% if vegan
-Lower risk of cancer
-Lower risk of high blood pressure
Disadvantages:
-You may be judged by others
-Sometimes less convienient
-Need to be sure you are now eating enough nuts, fortified cereal, inorder to get enough B-12, iron, zinc.
Vegetarianism is not a “diet”, but a lifestyle choice made by people. If you truley want to be a vegetarian then do not let the ignorance of others deter you. You will hear a lot of wrong information( you won’t get enough protien, you’ll have to take bottles of vitamin, you’ll be sick, etc) None of this is true and is just misinformation, by people who have been listening to grandma too much. There are some great resources available on the net.

Much of the worlds population is vegetarian. Most Hindu’s and Buddhists. Humans are omnivores so we do not have to meat only. We can choose what to eat and think about how we eat.
Red meat is linked to heart disease and cancers.
I have been vegetarian 30 years and no health problems. My children 24 and 22 have always been veggie, they are fit, healthy and brainy adults now so can say that Vegetarian lifestyle works for us.

I’m vegetarian for moral reasons. I made the decision when I was 10 because it’s the right thing to do. Ask yourself these questions: is it better to kill an animal, or to let it live? Would you eat a person? Of course not. Why would you eat an animal?
Once you’ve thought about these questions, you’ll realise that becoming vegetarian is one of the best things you can do. It is inconvenient at first, but trust me, after a while you won’t even think about it.
Marketing Strategies
For the first question, I’m a vegetarian because I think it’s wrong to kill animals for food when we can find healthy foods elsewhere. It is unnecessary, uncalled for, and unhealthy to eat meat.
Vegetarians do not only eat vegetables. Think about breads, fruits, pasta, nuts, and often times, dairy (if the person is not a vegan). I can always make full, hearty meals and I can make different meals every day, there is a huge variety.
Advantages of being a vegetarian: You will be so much healthier! You will be at a much lower risk of developing heart disease, you will have more energy, and you can live and eat guilt-free without thinking about how you have to fry up animal flesh for dinner.
Disadvantages: I don’t know of any! People claim that you won’t get iron and protein (which is ridiculous), they think this because THEY DON’T READ! Turn over any meatless package of food and read the nutrition facts. There is so much stuff with tons of iron and protein and B Vitamins! Eating meat to survive is a myth, you will not die from keeping it out of your diet. If this was true, everyone from India would be dead!
I hope this helps and please make a wise decision. If anything, just don’t listen to that guy, Branson, above me.

I have been Vegan for 6 months and I am so happy you asked this question. About a week ago a friend came to stay with me, and she was eating ribs and crap and I craved it. I got so sick, from eating meat, I don’t know if it is a mental thing or body rejection. I will say I felt so sluggish and like a ball of toxins.
There are some great books you should read like “Mad Cowboy” or “Don’t Drink The Milk” or Natural Cures (THEY) Don’t Want You To Know About. They all helped me change my very quickly. Fast Food Nation is also a great book. The movie eh not so much but watch it. It will give you VERY LITTLE info but does touch on the basic idea. Like the amount of waste that comes from cows alone. There is so much not only for your health but the environment. In the feed that our cows and pigs eat there is euthanized cats, dogs, horses road kill. Of course it they all go to a rendering plant and only some parts are used for feed and the rest or our body soap and shampoo. Just do some research a lot o people will try to tell you protein and blah blah Iron. Most people are lactose intolerant and anemia (Iron Deficiency) is normally caused because of drinking milk believe it or not.
I dont agree with a lot of what PETA says but they have an AWESOME campaign Drink Responsible dont drink milk.
They break down how a can of beer is better for you than milk. Don’t let people for lack of protein and vitamins downs your throat because fact says it is harder for use to digest animal meat anyway. That maybe why babies dont normally get sick until after they start eating it. Oh and BTW they don’t have to tell you if the meat your eating is genetically engineered or not same goes for the cloned milk cows.

Here is a great link, the reasons should be self explanatory after reviewing this site In doing research, I learned how unsanitary factory farmed meat is. First, the animals are fed an unnatural diet of pesticide laden grains and ground up dead animals used as fillers in the feeds. Second, they are kept in such deplorable conditions, that they are often diseased, so they are routinely given steroids, antibiotics and growth hormones. The meat is infected with blood, pus, urine, feces, purines, cholesterol, and all sorts of other disgusting stuff. Third, all meat must be cooked to a certain temperature to kill off bacteria and parasites-it makes no sense to still eat bacteria and parasites just because they are dead. I am totally repulsed by meat, and don’t even walk past the meat counter in the grocery store. I hope this info helps you make a concientious decision. Its a much healthier way of life, in many regards, and I feel better knowing nothing had to die to satisfy my greed or appetite. The only disadvantage in my mind, is that its a meat oriented world, and finding good vegetarian foods out is a real problem. The selections are highly limited, and animal by products are hidden everywhere-flavored chips, snacks, crackers, jello, gelatine, etc. Those poor animals sure have been put to many uses. Most things marked “natural flavors or colors” are from animal sources, as are most vitamins and “enriched” products, such as cereal, pasta, flour, etc.
Good luck, and happy Easter

I have been a vegetarian all my life. The reason is my religion. We are encouraged to minimize violence to plants also, and therefore we should avoid eating root vegetables such as onions, carrots and potatoes etc (since it kills the whole plant). But I’ve been bad on this particular issue.
Marketing Strategies
I’m one because I don’t like the taste/texture of meat. I stopped eating it when I was 3. I have tried it since I got older and I still do not like it. I do have a few seafood products I eat but that’s it for me. The advantage for me is that I don’t have to spend even more money at the grocery store on meat related products.
Marketing Strategies
because they turn vegetarian they can’t take the smell of the dish.
Marketing Strategies
I am because I don’t like the taste of meat. I also don’t like the thought of eating something that was once alive. But unlike most vegetarians, I’m not going to preach about it to people that do eat meat. That’s a personal choice you should make on your own.
Marketing Strategies
We all need protein, so fish, dried beans, nuts make up for the meat..
