so far its day 2 of no meat. ahhaha so its still easy
i wanted to start this lifestyle because i initially wanted to lose weight. but i also have read a lot about animal cruelty and animal farms and i dont want to stand for that cause.
can anyone supply me with advice and personal expierneces?

My advice: find some good meat substitutes… when I first went vegetarian I nearly went nuts! I was so addicted to meat, I couldn’t stand it… until i found all those wonderful mock meats. Morning star farms makes great stuff, and boca burgers are good too.

I just became veg. like 3 weeks ago after learning about the cruelty and suffering to the animals. I never thought EVER that I would become one but I’m really glad I did. There’s this podcast called Food For Thought by Colleen from Compassionate Cooks who I have been listening to a lot and learning so much about the meat/dairy industry and nutrition. You can easily find it- just search vegetarian in podcasts and it will pop up. Also, chooseveg.com has a lot of info.

i was about 15 when i became a vegetarian. i started out slowly. first stopped beef, then stopped chicken. started eating healthy. yeah i did lose weight. and i felt really good.
you just have to have will-power. don’t let people discourage you. yes, people will make fun of you. but you can’t let it get to you. its going to be hard at first. but It its something you really want. then make it a life long commitment. i have. iv been a vegetarian 7 years or so. and its amazing. i enjoy it. i LOVE that i don’t eat meat. and you will be saving 100s of animals a year also! good luck darlin! you are doing a wonderful thing! =)

Being a vegetarian is going to be fun! I’ve been a vegetarian for over five years. Even though being a vegetarian can help you stick to a healthy diet, you still need to maintain a healthy weight, and keep up with your vitamins and nutrients, especially proteins. Soybeans, legumes, and dairy is a great way to get your daily protein.
Some people find it easier to be a vegetarian, because they don’t even crave meat for meals. However, people with a more carnivorous appetite may find it hard to resist that double bacon cheese burger.
If you find yourself craving a big mac, there are plenty of veggie burgers out there, found in the freezer aisle of your local supermarket. Some veggie burgers are delicious, and others are not (and some are just plain gross). Don’t give up hope, and find a brand that you really enjoy.
Some people are vegans, which means they consume absolutely NO animal products, even diary. Some even go far enough to refuse to eat any cooked meals, eating their veggies raw. (I know people who tried this, and they never seemed particularly happy, just hungry.)

They do make vegie bacon-morningstar & trader joes. It makes a great vegetarian /vegan BLT.
I normally don’t eat the fake meat, after all it is a highly processed food. I try to stay with fresh foods, whole grains. You can do a lot with tofu for protein, blend some in a smoothie with fruit, yum!

You can help the animals and the envrionment. When someone wrote they stopped being a vegetariain because she felt as though she couldn’t make a big difference, she was wrong.
A vegetarian saves more then 100 lives per year (According to Peta) So I have been a Vegetarian for 20 years, that’s 2,000 animals I have saved. GO ME!!

I went vegetarian a few months ago purely because of animal rights and the slaughter that goes down at the farms. I logged onto which sent me a free veggie starter kit, which I found to be really helpful. Order one now, it also lists foods that contain animal products in it, vegetarian and vegan recipes that are delicious, and it has a list of brands that animal test and use fur and leather etc.

first i want o tell you you shall never feel guilty for eating meats,you are never cruel to them this way .i am not exagerating,but even animals life is very useful and has got a point,which is humanbeing health.so if youare emotional,you can lull your cat and be kind to all animals,but stopping meats completely is cruelty towards yourself,please dear dont do it
however,in Islam we beleive the Prophet diet is amazing and i think you will like to know some tips from His diet specially if you knew His diet was very suitable for vegeterians
To keep healthy
Wake up early at dawn, take your breakfast; 1 teaspoon of honey bee stirred in a glass of warm water
After about 2 hrs take 7dates soaked in a glass of cow milk; we believe it protects body against poisons
At about midday, take a fruit
When the sun is at its peak, take your lunch;
Daily meals at lunch
A red carrot
1 parsley
1 celery
1 shabat(an Arabic word , didn’t know the translation, but it looks some how like parsley but its leaves look as if they are fine green hairs)
1 big spoon of olive oil +2 drops of apple vinegar a piece of barley bread =half of your hand
The main meal must be mainly whole grains like lentil
Other recommended meals for lunch
Liver+apple vinegar and kosbara (also I don’t know the English name)
Eggs; very helpful if you feel weak
rice+meat; it is considered very healthy, but still our diet is mainly whole grains, and meat is not taken for more than 3 successive days, but still you cant avoid meat for more than 40 days, this may cause you bad temper
Also considered very healthy is
Onions
Garlic
A very beautiful meal is lentil soup made of:
Lentil+garlic+onion+carrot and cucumber
We are told not to mix meals, at least take a break of 2 hrs to take you dinner (last meal)
sour milk(I don’t know if the translation is right, but it is made of a mix of 1cup of yogurt +a liter of milk and left for about a day for fermentation)+a piece of barley bread of about half of your hand
Or you may take
Fig which is very healthy
Or some pomegranate
You may consider them a too many meals, but it was discovered that eating snacks like this will increase the rate of metabolism
Also eating at the same time ever day increases metabolism
And the most beautiful is following the sun cycle, gives you the highest metabolism, which gives you the whole benefits of your meals
