White processed sugar – is it vegeterian?

5
I want to know that during the processing of sugar they use Dog bone ash during one of its many bleaching processes. Is this true. I am a vegeterian and thus have raised this question. Is it better to buy brown non bleached sugar.

Just to be on the safe side, I’d go with non-bleached. I’m sure it’s not true, but if you are concerned, I just go with the brown.

I would buy raw sugar or sweetleaf stevia instead.

White sugar is not processed through dog bones, but it IS processed through “char” which is ground cattle bones. Its the same stuff used as charcoal in fish aquariums. A true vegetarian avoids white sugar, which is not good for you anyway. You can buy raw, unprocessed cane sugar at most health food stores. Its better for you as it retains some nutritional value.

no it’s not true.. but processed sugar is not vegan.

the chemicals in it to keep it white, to keep it from binding are from animal derivitives.

which is normal.. most of your processed and bleached products are like that.
