I’m not sure about how to start of small. I went cold turkey. I’ve read things though that say do one thing a week. Like no beef the first week, no chicken the second, no eggs the third, you get the idea.
Well if you’re going vegan then none of the following:
-Eggs
-Milk (or any dairy)
-Seafood
-Honey (some vegans do this, others do not)
-Gelatin
Chocolate has milk in it, so it’s a no no for vegans. But besides that you’re good. Expect again, for gelatin (boiled animal bones *shudders*)
Well I had watched a video the night before about how the animals were treated, so I was really fired up. I just went down that morning, told my mom there was something that I needed to talk to about, and said that I’d watched a video, and that I’d chosen to become a vegan. They support me though it. We bought soy milk, beans, etc.
I’m 15 and tried it last September. I went for a week with nothing what so ever that was against my veganism, but I felt like crap so I stopped. Good luck though! I grew in the experience, even though I couldn’t keep it up.

Start by eliminating red meat. Then move on to chicken, then fish, then eggs, then dairy, honey (depends on if you want to be veg or vegan)
Is there any other food I should avoid except meat ?
Like the guy above said. Rennet in cheese and gelatin in most chewy lollies.
Is there any candy that isn’t vegan friendly ?
Most chewy lollies have gelatin in them. so just be sure to read the label. Most hard candy like lolly pops are OK or you could try halal candy from middle eastern shops.
How do I tell my mom?
Just talk to her calmly, don’t get all emotional. Think about what you’re going to say to her before hand. Then tell her what your reasons are for choosing to be veg.
Just make sure if you are going to do it, do it right. Get all the vitamins & nutrients you need. Maybe see a nutritionist, since you’re only 14 and still growing. Good luck…. =0)

I am a 13 year-old vegetarian and my family used to have meat EVERYNIGHT (pretty much) but my sister became a vegetarian and didn’t tell anybody but my mom noticed that she had lost some weight so she asked if she was and she said yes. Then I became a vegetarian and didn’t tell anybody (because I tried a couple times before and failed and I was afraid my parents would object) my parents found out when I asked them to get Vegetarian Vegetabe soup and they were absolutley fine with it. my other sister is even becoming a vegetarian now.
to start small I rcommend cutting out red meat or just one type of meat ,such as chicken
I don’t eat ANY meat including seafood and I don’t eat anything made of gelitan.
gummybears, altoids, gummy worms and jello are not vegan friendly
I recommend just telling her you are considering becoming a vegetarian and ask her to buy some meat free foods. If she loves you she will accept your decision.

yeah tons of candy. check the labels. lots have glycerides and gelatin and other crap like that. heres a link to vegan stuff you can find at the store that is actually normal. i dont know if it has sugar processed with bone char or what, but other than that its vegan. note that at the bottom of tha page it says they may contain a trace of animal ingredients like maybe .1 percent or.01 percent. im probably scaring you with all these big ingredient words. but if youre going to be a vegan you better get used to them. and NO MARSHMELLOWS. if you want vegan marshmellows you gotta order them online. you might want to ease off of animals slowly so you arent at a big risk of caving to your past fav foods.
so if you want to ease off, maybe first skip red meat, then all meat, then seafood too, then dairy and eggs, then one by one each animal ingredient (alot of them) maybe starting with gelatin or rennet. dont forget to never use animal fagrics like leather or fur. they are ez to give up. also, if you dont want to be a full blown vegan, i suggest just strict veggie or veggie. t free cheese and free range eggs.

katherin, been there done that. i am a vegan myself and am 14 too. my family stopped eating meat wiht me so it would be easier. but i know alot of vegetarians in which there parents are not. the first thing you need to do is tell your family you want to be a vegetarian. you must have research to back up your decision though. you have to reserach meat substitutes as in high protein beans, nuts, dairy (if you do not want to be a vegan. i do not reccomend this just yet). also other natural fats, healthy oils (olive oil, safflower oil, canola oil, FLAX OIL)avacados, etc. and omega acids in meat substitutes. YOU NEED TO AVOID GELATIN. look up gelatin on wikipedia and learn all about it. i let you know you will not be pleased. it is disgusting, but it is best that u know what it is. a lot of gummies, marshmellows, and jello has gelatin. Tell your mom calmy and think of all the positives of becoming a vegetarian. also think of all of the negatives and think of positives to throw back at them. it will all work out. they will understand. do not be scared to tell them or worry what they may think. they are your parents, they are here to support you. your friend, in which you my ask any questions, kk. well I’m fourteen too. and fairly new to vegetarianism, but its been about 2 months. And your situation sounds exactly like mine. My family has some serious carnivores in it. What I did was just one day I was tired of eating flesh, so I just stopped. Lets just say my parents were not happy at all. Avoid anything with gelatin in it. gummy things
I just flat out told my mom. She yelled at first and she tried to chop it up real small and give it to me. I refused to eat until she let me watch when she cooked. When you tell her you have to remind her that it is YOUR choice, not hers.
I’m now trying to convince my mom to let me go vegan, like no eggs, cheese, milk, or honey. But shes refusing.
if you stand up for what you believe in you will be heard. Stay strong and good luck

Don’t become a vegitarian. It is unhealthy and bad for your heart. Don’t tell your mom because you a aren’t gonna be one cuz it will stunt your growth and will be bad for you. And every candy is good even if it isn’t vegan friendly. You can’t have milk chocolate if you are vegan.
And that just ain’t the life for me!
And just cause you LOVE meat and eat a bunch of it you are not a carnivour if you still have fruits and veggis. you are an omnivour.

Why Become Vegetarian?
There are as many reasons for becoming vegetarian as there are vegetarians; it’s a highly personal and individual decision to make. But in a survey conducted on behalf of The Vegetarian Society the majority of people said that they gave up meat and fish because they did not morally approve of killing animals, or because they objected to the ways in which animals are kept, treated and killed for food.
With the growing awareness of the importance of healthy food, many people are also becoming vegetarian because it matches the kind of low fat, high fibre diet recommended by dieticians and doctors. Concern about the environment is another factor as people become more aware of the effect raising animals for their meat is having on the environment. Or you may be concerned about wasting world food resources by using land to raise animals for meat instead of growing crops that can feed more people directly.
